Table decor must haves for your rustic wedding theme>
The theme of your wedding is one of the first (of many) and biggest calls you will make in the planning of your big day. The theme will set the tone for a myriad of aspects such as formality, suitable venue options, colour schemes, attire and decor. It is important to choose a theme that fits both you and your spouse-to-be; it should reflect your relationship and be something you both feel completely comfortable and yourselves with. You should lock this in relatively early on in your wedding planning so you can then focus on the more nitty gritty 'stuff' leading up to the date.
A rustic theme is tried and true; with New Zealand's picturesque mountains and variety of Insta-worthy landscapes, it isn't difficult to see why rustic weddings are amongst Australasia's most popular and recommended themes.
So you've decided on a rustic theme overall but what does that actually mean? And now what? Specifically speaking in terms of decor (i.e. do not apply the following to say, your bridesmaids' dresses, we want you to still have friends post wedding!) a rustic theme includes accents made with burlap, twine, hessian etc. It can mean shopping around online for second hand vintage vases and candle sticks, the options are endless for a classic rustic atmosphere. Linen paper stationery with brown kraft envelopes are an increasingly popular choice and signage made from old restored windows or pallets have become very trendy. The most adored rustic element however, is wood! It's natural, eco-friendly and is bound to look stunning with any colour scheme. Below are a few of our customer favourite wood decor pieces, hand selected from our Wedding collection.
Wooden Table Numbers
These stunning table numbers make a beautiful natural centrepiece that will stand out and guide your guests to their designated seat. Rather than go traditional with numeric table numbers, you may opt to go modern and list your tables as places you have visited together as a couple and place a photograph of you enjoying your time there. Whatever you decide to name your tables, we can custom laser cut these pieces to suit you.
Wooden Engraved Place Cards
These engraved place cards (which double as wedding favours!) are sure to impress your guests. They add so much personalisation and are environmentally friendly. They are also cost effective compared to other place card/favour options. Most importantly, they will be something your friends and family can take home and remember your special day by. They look flawless when set against a folded napkin on their plate setting (also minimising guests getting lost).
Wooden memorial and chair reserved signs
Honouring a loved one who is unable to be with you on your big day is a beautiful tradition, one which you and your guests will remember for a long time. Rustic memorial ideas include reserving a seat at a table with a wooden engraved plaque hanging from it or lighting a candle and displaying it next to a wooden sign with your loved ones names and a heartfelt message engraved. This will also make a lovely keepsake.
Wooden Cake Topper
Wedding cakes are certainly not cheap, so you will most likely want your custom creation to stand out with a beautiful natural topper. These custom cake toppers made from locally sourced New Zealand wood come in all shapes and sizes. Opt for a flicky font with you and your spouse's names or a floral circle border with your last name. If a wooden colour will clash with your cake, spray painting your topper will create a more bold aesthetic.
Custom wooden drink sticks
Stir sticks are a great decor addition to any celebration, especially a wedding. Create your own unique design and let us make it a reality. Place a glass full of these at your bar for your guests to take throughout the evening. They are natural, eco-friendly and will keep your guests' drinks fresh and balanced. These can also double as a favour, definitely something your guests will remember.
There are so many options for wedding table decor out there, a lot of which you can DIY yourself in the months leading up to your wedding. Create a Pinterest board and collate all your ideas and then make a list of items you would need to purchase to achieve that look. Check out stores like Spotlight or even the craft section in your local Kmart/Farmers. There are also so many Facebook groups where couples sell on their used decor so be sure to search those.
